15:19 She answered, “Please give me a special present. ¹  Since you have given me land in the Negev, now give me springs of water. So he gave her both upper and lower springs.

18:19 It then crossed to the slope of Beth Hoglah to the north and ended at the northern tip of the Salt Sea ²  at the mouth of the Jordan River. ³  This was the southern border.

[15:19]  ¹ tn Elsewhere this Hebrew word (בְּרָכָה, bÿrakhah) is often translated “blessing,” but here it refers to a gift (as in Gen 33:11; 1 Sam 25:27; 30:26; and 2 Kgs 5:15).

[18:19]  ² sn The Salt Sea is another name for the Dead Sea.

[18:19]  ³ tn Heb “to the tongue of the Salt Sea to the north, to the end of the Jordan to the south.” The word “River” is not in the Hebrew text, but is supplied in the translation for clarity (also in the following verse).

[23:3]  ⁴ tn Heb “for the Lord your God, he [is] the one who fights for you.”
